  • Foto 1: First MCC Grad To Receive Doctor's Degree. Joseph H. Matluck, who recently was awarded a Doctor en Letras at the Universidad Nacional is being congratulated by Dr. Lorna Lavery Stafford, Dean of MCC's Graduate School (right), and Elena Picazo Murray, head of the Lower Division Spanish Courses (left).

    Matluck's thesis was La pronunciación en el valle de México. The board unanimously voted to confer the degree magna cum laude. He registered in Spanish 101 at MCC in June 1947 and was awarded his Master's degree here in Hispanic Languages and Literatures in June '49. He is the first student of the Centro to receive the Doctor's Degree.

If no one catches a larger fish with the same light tackle before April 15, Apte will have won his third world championship.
