Resumen

The purpose of this study is to find out whether there is a correlation between foreign language anxiety and oral test scores and if there is, how strong the correlation is. It also aims to examine the effect that the different levels of anxiety have on students´ test scores and how students feel during the exam. Sixteen nursing students participated in the study. They were given an oral exam that consisted of three role-play scenarios. Results suggest that foreign language anxiety does affect oral performance. Students with lower levels of anxiety received higher scores on the oral exam whereas the highly anxious students received the lowest test scores. Most students reported feeling nervous while taking the oral exam.
